12 Engagement Party Locations in Cumberland, MD & Nearby
From intimate dinners and private restaurant rooms to breweries, cocktails and scenic celebrations, here are some local places to consider when planning an engagement party in Cumberland and Western Maryland.
You said yes — now it’s time to celebrate!
An engagement party is one of the first opportunities to bring your favorite people together after getting engaged. And if you’re celebrating in Western Maryland, you don’t necessarily need to travel to Baltimore, Pittsburgh or another major city to find a great place to host one.
Cumberland and the surrounding area have options for everything from an intimate dinner with immediate family to a private room, casual night out, brewery celebration or larger gathering.
As a wedding planner based in Cumberland, I love highlighting the businesses and spaces we have right here in our area. So if you’re wondering where to have an engagement party in Cumberland, Maryland, these local options are a great place to start.
1. Henny’s Grill & Bar — LaVale
If you want the convenience of a restaurant engagement party while still having some separation from the regular dining room, Henny’s Grill & Bar is one local option to consider.
Henny’s has a closed-off dining space that can accommodate approximately 30 guests, making it a nice size for an engagement dinner with family and close friends.
The bar room may also be available to rent on certain days, which can work well for couples picturing something more casual with drinks, appetizers and plenty of time to mingle.
With steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, appetizers and other American favorites, there are plenty of choices when your guest list includes different tastes.
Best for: Engagement parties around 30 guests, private family dinners and casual cocktail-style celebrations.
2. Puccini Restaurant — Cumberland
If having a dedicated private space is important to you, Puccini Restaurant deserves a spot near the top of your list.
Puccini offers three private dining rooms along with its Pizza Cellar. Its private rooms can accommodate approximately 20, 50 or 75 guests, giving couples options for both intimate engagement dinners and larger celebrations.
The historic setting also gives the party a little extra character without requiring you to rent and set up a traditional event venue.
Best for: Private parties, small-to-medium guest lists, family celebrations and couples who want a historic local setting.
3. Cumberland Country Club — Cumberland
For something a little more formal, Cumberland Country Club offers several possibilities — and you do not have to be a member to host a private function.
For an intimate engagement party, the Maryland Room seats up to approximately 32 guests. The club also has larger banquet and event spaces if your guest list goes beyond an intimate dinner.
Food can range from hors d’oeuvres to a sit-down dinner, giving couples room to create something that feels more like a planned event than a standard restaurant reservation.
Best for: Formal engagement parties, private dining, larger guest lists and couples who want a more traditional event atmosphere.
4. Oscar’s Restaurant — Cumberland
Oscar’s Restaurant is a great option for couples who want a traditional restaurant celebration with a space specifically designed for groups.
Oscar’s advertises a private room seating up to 45 people along with both on-site and off-site catering.
Its Italian-American menu includes steak, seafood, pasta, sandwiches and other familiar favorites, which can make choosing food easier when you’re inviting several generations of family and friends.
Best for: Family-centered engagement parties, groups up to about 45 people and couples who want a private restaurant room.
5. MEZZOS — Downtown Cumberland
If your idea of an engagement party involves cocktails, appetizers and more of a social atmosphere, MEZZOS offers something different from a traditional sit-down dinner.
MEZZOS advertises several event options, including its main bar, glass-enclosed party room and upstairs Cumberland Room.
This can be especially fun for an evening engagement celebration where guests can mingle, order drinks and share food rather than spending the entire party seated around one table.
Best for: Cocktail-style engagement parties, nightlife, drinks and appetizers, and groups that want room to socialize.
6. Ristorante Ottaviani — Downtown Cumberland
For couples picturing an intimate Italian dinner, Ristorante Ottaviani offers a more traditional dinner atmosphere in downtown Cumberland.
This could be especially appealing if your engagement celebration is less about hosting a large party and more about bringing your closest family and friends together for a memorable meal.
Because group arrangements and availability can vary, contact the restaurant directly with your guest count to discuss the best options for your celebration.
Best for: Intimate engagement dinners, Italian food lovers and smaller celebrations downtown.
7. Centre Street Collective — Downtown Cumberland
Not every engagement party needs assigned seating, a banquet room and a formal meal.
Centre Street Collective is worth considering if you’re looking for something modern and casual in downtown Cumberland. Its varied food and drink options can also work well for a group with different tastes or dietary preferences.
If you’re planning to bring a larger group, contact Centre Street Collective ahead of time to discuss what arrangements may be available for your date.
Best for: Modern couples, casual gatherings, smaller groups and less-traditional engagement celebrations.
8. D’Atri’s Restaurant — LaVale
If you’re from the Cumberland area, there is a good chance someone in your family already has a favorite D’Atri’s order.
D’Atri’s has upstairs seating, which may make it worth asking about if you’re planning a group celebration. Contact the restaurant directly to find out whether the upstairs can accommodate your guest count and whether it can be reserved or separated for your event.
D’Atri’s also offers catering and larger-quantity food orders, so it can still be part of your engagement party even if you decide to celebrate at home or in a separate event space.
Best for: Casual family celebrations, local-food lovers and couples interested in restaurant seating or catering.
9. Patrick’s Pub — Cumberland
If you’re looking for something casual and fun instead of a formal engagement dinner, Patrick’s Pub is another Cumberland option worth considering.
Patrick’s advertises The Deck for private events, making it an interesting option for a laid-back celebration where guests can eat, have drinks and spend time together.
Patrick’s also offers catering, giving you another possibility if you want to serve their food at a celebration held somewhere else.
Best for: Casual parties, outdoor celebrations, drinks and appetizers, and couples who don’t want a formal banquet-room atmosphere.
10. 1812 Brewery — Cumberland
If a brewery and rustic setting sound more like the two of you, 1812 Brewery offers rentable event spaces just outside downtown Cumberland.
The Taproom accommodates up to 75 people and includes tables, chairs, a bartender and fireplace. For larger celebrations, the rustic Loafing Barn seats up to 95 guests or accommodates up to 150 standing.
This is a great example of why an engagement party doesn’t have to look like a formal dinner. A brewery celebration can feel relaxed, social and completely different from the wedding you’re planning later.
Best for: Rustic engagement parties, brewery lovers, larger groups and casual celebrations.
11. Rocky Gap Casino Resort — Flintstone
For a scenic celebration just outside Cumberland, Rocky Gap Casino Resort offers several different spaces overlooking the surrounding mountains and Lake Habeeb.
Options include private dining for smaller groups, a Lakeside Reception Area for up to 30 people, the outdoor Golfview Pavilion for up to 70, and larger spaces for bigger celebrations.
On-site lodging is another advantage if you’re inviting relatives or friends who will be traveling into Western Maryland for the party.
Best for: Scenic celebrations, out-of-town guests, weekend gatherings and couples who want food, event space and lodging in one location.
12. Rent a Traditional Event Space
Maybe a restaurant isn’t what you have in mind at all.
If you’re planning a larger engagement party or want more freedom to decorate, choose your own catering and create a custom setup, Cumberland and Western Maryland also have traditional event spaces worth exploring.
Instead of repeating every local venue here, I’ve already put together detailed guides to help you compare your options:

How to Choose the Right Engagement Party Location
Before booking the restaurant you visit most often, think about what you actually want the celebration to feel like.
A dinner for 12 people has very different needs from a party for 60. Start with your approximate guest count, then decide whether you want a private room, a casual restaurant table, an outdoor celebration or an actual event venue.
When contacting a location, ask about:
- Maximum and minimum guest counts
- Private or semi-private spaces
- Room rental fees
- Food and beverage minimums
- Deposits and cancellation policies
- Bar and alcohol options
- Gratuity and service charges
- Cake and outside-dessert policies
- Decorating rules
- Setup time
- Accessibility and parking
- How long you have access to the space

Hosting Somewhere Else? Don’t Forget the Food.
You don’t have to hold your engagement party inside a restaurant to enjoy local food.
A backyard, family home or rented event space can give you more freedom with decorating and your guest list while still allowing you to bring in catering from a local restaurant or caterer.

Your Engagement Party Doesn’t Have to Be Huge
There is no required guest count for an engagement party.
You can invite 50 people to a private room, have dinner with your immediate families, meet your closest friends for cocktails downtown or celebrate with ten people around one table.
Your engagement party doesn’t need to become a second wedding. It’s simply an opportunity to celebrate the fact that you’re getting married.
Choose a place that feels like the two of you and works for the people you genuinely want there.
